What a difference a year makes! A year taller, a few player changes and clearly more confident our netball team did themselves and our school proud at the Purbeck Netball Tournament. The weather however had not improved and as is traditional for this event the temperatures were freezing!
Luckily the St Marks team hoodies are a great new addition to our kit when conditions are cold.
Sadly 5 of the teams previously entered in the competition withdrew so to avoid a very early finish each game was a full High 5 match with 24 minutes of playing time.
Our first match was against Stoborough and it was even all the way through ending with a 4-4 draw which was the fairest result. Next we lost to St Marys the eventual competition winners, at half time we were only 1-2 down but unfortunately they pulled away to a comfortable 1-9 victory.
The third match against St Mary’s and Josephs saw a comfortable victory with some great passing moves.
Last up were Lulworth & Winfrith, where we dominated possession but missed a lot of scoring opportunities, eventually winning 6-2.
Overall results were announced and St Marks were a creditable joint 2nd.
Our Star of the Week award was presented to Alex Cox who was equally strong in both attack and defence. The whole team however should be so proud of the progress they have made with their netball skills.
