Terrific Tag Rugby

Terrific Tag Rugby

The Year 3 and 4 Tag Rugby festival was held on Thursday 15th March at The Purbeck School. For a number of the team this was the first time they had represented the school, so excitement levels were high.

The event began with a number of training drills led by the Purbeck School Sports Leaders. It was great to see one of St Marks former pupils confidently coaching our children.

After the training session the pupils were split into two teams, each of whom played 4 games. The R.F.U. do not permit children under the age of 12 to participate in competitive scored rugby matches, so no scores were kept or reported for the games. What we can report however is that both our teams played with flair, skill and smiles on their faces.

We were so proud of our players and it was great to have some of our parents there supporting our teams as well as appreciating how well the children played.

Thank you to Miss Travers for training the team and clearly preparing them so well. We look forward to seeing the pupils continuing to progress with their rugby skills next season.

At the end of the festival, it was encouraging to see so many children taking club details about our local rugby club, Swanage & Wareham which trains on a Sunday morning.
