Autumn 1
Check out our Autumn hedgehog art!
As part of our Science learning we have been watching butterflies hatch in your classroom, observing them daily!
Our topic for this term was Remembrance & The First World War. We found out why people wear poppies when we remember the people that died and made links to the poppies that grew on Flanders field. We also understood the significance of armistice day on 11th November at 11am. In school we made our own wreath of poppies and delved in the lives of the soldiers on the front line and discovered what life was like in the trenches. We went on a school visit to The Tank Museum in Bovington, where the class were prepared for war and taught how to salute before exploring the trenches. We were lucky enough to go inside one of the only remaining tanks from the first world war, and discovered the role that horses played in the war.
We painted a battle scene from WW1 during our art lessons based on the painter JW Turner
