Working with Sustainable Swanage
Thu 22 Jun 2023This morning, our Reception class and Year 5 pupils took part in a ‘Bioblitz’ around our extensive and beautiful school grounds.
Sarah and Dave from Sustainable Swanage led a series of engaging activities to help us count nature in specific areas and recording as many things as possible!
Our pupils were all engaged and enjoyed sharing their own knowledge of the wildlife around us and together were helped to identify species and learn about new ones, including insects, birds and flowering plants to name a few.
With this knowledge, we can help boost wildlife and habitats in and around our school.
We all had a great morning and loved connecting, helping nature and it has given us the drive and inspiration to do more and go out and find out more!

Flower bed clearing!
Fri 16 Jun 2023Being outside and exploring nature is not only fun but also a good life lesson for kids. Seeing for themselves how things grow and exploring nature with their own hands and eyes is a wonderful experience for kids of all ages.
Let them observe, listen, and smell nature.
Ask them questions like what can they see, which animals can they hear, how can you tell which season we have, and so on.Our Year 3, Year 6 and Year 2 have been helping Mrs Stephens clear our flower beds, ready for some colourful planting!

KS1 Sports Day
Thu 08 Jun 2023☀️What a scorcher of a day for our KS1 sports afternoon! ☀️
We had an amazing turn out of family and friends wanting to support our pupils. It was hats, sun cream, water, deckchairs and huge amounts of determination and sportsmanship afternoon… simply amazing.
A huge thank you again, to Mrs Davies for organising these events, The Swanage School for their sports leader’s assistance in the smooth running of the events, Explorers Childcare Group for cheering on everyone as they crossed the finish line, each and every KS1 pupil for participating smiling and doing your best all the time (you are amazing!), our superb PTA for supplying ice lollies as a reward and finally … you- the parents/guardians, family and friends who continually support St Marks. 👏👏👏
